When we began Somersworth Ready Together (SRT) back in 2016, our primary focus was on school readiness. We wanted to address the discrepancies of skills in children entering kindergarten. As time went on and relationships were built with families, community members and early childhood stakeholders, it became clear that to broaden our impact we needed to expand our scope. With the advancement of brain science emphasizing the importance of the prenatal-5 developmental window, we began to focus on all areas of child development (physical, cognitive, social-emotional and language) and ways to help families and caregivers.
Through coordinated engagement between schools, families and the community we can help to ensure a strong foundation for our children. Helping children thrive in the early years is an investment in their future and the future of Somersworth.
